In South Africa’s northernmost province of Limpopo and is famed for its prolific and diverse wildlife. There are over 40 different mammal species including the Big 5 of elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos and rhinoceros. On the twice-daily game drives through the reserve, the expert guides and trackers ensuring unforgettable wildlife encounters and a glimpse at the approximate 350 bird species and a myriad of smaller species in their natural environment.

This vibrant and verdant residence is set against the backdrop of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains and epitomises five-star safari style. The delightfully shaded rim-flow swimming pool is
the natural focal point for guests, but also a prime vantage position for big game viewing with a cocktail in hand at the small, permanent waterhole just beyond the perimeter.

Kapama River Lodge has 64 suites, all featuring lavish amenities, full en-suite bathrooms and private terrace for even more Big 5 gazing. The secluded spa suites are positioned a little way from the lodge for additional privacy and have expansive glass doors and frameless windows for unobstructed views; the vast family rooms offer triple balconies and measure over 70 square metres, while the opulent royal suites boast a dual shower overlooking the surrounding bush and resident wildlife.

Wining and dining is exquisite and classic old Africa, with evening meals enjoyed seated around a roaring fire in the Rhino Boma, or on the dry riverbed in front of the lodge, under the stars. The authentic menus include local delicacies like warthog stew, kudu casserole, impala sausages and oxtail curry, but vegetarians, vegans and other dietary requirements are equally well catered for.
