Holiday in Sun City
In South Africa’s North West province, Sun City is one for the bucket list and one of South Africa’s hidden treasures. Likened to other famous strips, it’s clear to see why with the casino experience. 24 hours a day and 7 days a week everyone can go and try their luck with slots and table games. If you’re looking for something more active to try your hands at, head on down to the man-made beach, Valley of Waves and try out their daring slides. There is also relaxed river rafting where you won’t even realise this isn’t the real deal whilst enjoying a drink at the bar whilst overlooking the beach.
Sun City is home to world-class golf courses that attracts some of the best athletes such as Tiger Woods and the Gary Player golf course being designed by golfing legend Gary Player himself. The Lost City Golf Course offers a little more than golf too, with the 13th hole on this desert-like course often attracting Nile crocodiles. The adventure continues too with the fastest zip-side experience in the world, 4x4 quad biking through the game park, wildlife encounters and you’ll be spoilt for choice with all the restaurants and bars to choose from.Book now
As the name suggests, this newly renovated 5-star gem is crafted on the tranquil theme of flowing waterways, both in the beautifully landscaped gardens and throughout the stunning interior décor. Its steeped silhouette rises out of its tropical surroundings like a modern-day Aztec temple and the overall ambience is of a hidden kingdom set in a lush, jungle wonderland.
There’s a private beach and tanning island and all the 243 rooms enjoy views over the scenic gardens or the series of sparkling pools set in between the cascading waterways. Three fine restaurants complement this water theme too. 'Grotto' is surrounded by sparkling waterfalls, ‘Peninsula’ is an elegant lagoon-side dining venue, while ‘Santorini’ servers up Greek/Mediterranean feasts near the expansive outdoor swimming pool.
The Cascades is also right next to the 18th hole of the world-famous Gary Player Golf Course and very close to the glamorous entrance of the resort’s main Entertainment Centre, plus with Pilanesberg National Park on the doorstep as well, you’re spoilt for choice. The elephant back and hot air balloon safaris are highly recommended, while the Crocodile Farm also gets glowing reports.
